Week 50 is done!

This past week is week 3 of a modified on ramp back into throwing. So I’m doing some high intensity throwing and building back up, but not pushing the envelope like crazy. I did some plyo testing last Monday and PR’s in roll ins, which was encouraging. I’ve also been getting back into long toss and my distance and RPE that corresponds with that distance has been promising as well. The end of the week was a bit more rough than the beginning of the week as my body was starting to feel the effects of adding intense throwing back in with the relatively intense lifting. I can tell I was getting into overreaching a bit, so this week I’m deloading before getting into a building phase next week.

My arm is feeling pretty good and I’m excited to get back into pushing the envelope again and seeing what kind of numbers I can put up. I think I’ve got a decent handle on my recovery now, which will hopefully help me stay healthy moving forward. I’ve also started implementing deloads into my throwing just as I would in my lifting. Long toss will be a key going forward I think. It should help my optimize my delivery. Once I can get my leg kick long toss matched up relatively closely to my step-behind distance I think I’ll see a decent up tick in velo.

As far as lifting goes my emphasis is on movement speed, but like I said before I’ve been including some heavier lifts as well. I seem to see a decrease in strength relatively quickly if I don’t handle heavy weights relatively frequently. But, speed-strength and strength-speed both need more emphasis than absolute strength does for me.

Anyway, I’m excited for the start of the building phase next week and getting after some more aggressive throwing.

Thank you for following me on my journey to the show and check back later in the week for more content!
