Week 52 is done! It’s crazy to think I’ve been doing this for a year! I’ll be doing a year in review this week, but for now I’ll just recap last week.

Last week was a mix of frustration and productivity. It was frustrating because I didn’t test since I’ve got some repatterning to do and I don’t want to put stress on dysfunctional patterns. I talked with Ben and I’ve got some work to do in terms of pec mobility and how my arm is moving, so that’s where I’m at right now.

I know it’s necessary and I’ve got to fix it, but I really like throwing at max effort, so testing days are really fun for me. My focus is shifting for the next few weeks to mobility, power, and getting my body moving well through my delivery.

Plyos are huge right now and I think those along with the mobility work are going to yield gains in velo, but it’s just a matter of putting in a bunch of perfect (as perfect as they can be right now) reps to get my body moving better. It’s tough because my focus is on a few issues, so it can get frustrating feeling like I’m not making progress. But my head, lead leg, hip/shoulder separation, and arm movement need to get better for me to perform like I know I can.

Since my focus is on these things right now my lifting volume is down some to allow for focus on these other areas. I know that adding a few lbs to my lifts probably isn’t going to add velo for me at this point, because I am strong enough. However, I like the weight room a lot, and I like doing heavy work so it’s going to be more difficult mentally than anything else to drop the volume some. I’ll still be working on the things I need like rotational power and power in general, so my focus will just be really intense during my modified sessions.

Thank you for following me on my journey to the show! Check in later this week for more content and my year in review!
