I’ve been plugging away at this for 59+ weeks now, which is crazy.

It’s been a process of trial and error, and it’s definitely been frustrating at times, so I’m trying to make “embrace the struggle” my motto going forward. If it were easy to throw 100mph and make it to the big leagues, everyone would do it, so I have no illusions that this should be easy. I’ve tried a lot of different things throughout this process and I appreciate all the help I’ve gotten from the people I trust, and those who know more than me. I’m moving forward with what I think is the best approach for my goals and needs and I’ll reevaluate it in a few weeks as I’ve done throughout this journey.

I’m still having mobility issues and those are influencing my patterning, so I’m going to be spending even more time focused on mobility than I already have been. My pec has been an issue for me the whole time, but it’s getting better with a variety of smashes, stretches, and mobility drills. Along with that I’m getting back to using some of the heavier plyo balls to help with repatterning. I had gotten away from them, but I think that needs to be a larger part of what I’m doing as well. Wednesdays are my lightest days, and yesterday I took some time to do my drills focusing on a few different cues than usual, and doing them with heavier balls.

One of the cues that I think helped me yesterday and will help me going forward is what Ben says about rotating my upper body like a ferris wheel rather than spinning. I’ve had an issue with pulling around with my upper body rather than over my hips. Thinking about that and loose arm action yesterday, along with the heavier balls seemed to help my arm action some as you can see below.

These were done at relatively low intent levels and there are still plenty of issues, but it looked and felt better than in previous training sessions.

The weight room portion is still focused on power, rotation, and unilateral work. It’s going well, still a long way to go, but I’m improving each day which is huge. I can’t wait to see where I’ll be in a few weeks!

Thank you for following me on my journey to the show! Check back later in the week for more content!
