It’s hard to believe I’ve been at this for 65 weeks now!

It was another solid week of work on repatterning. All training should be mentally draining to some degree, because achieving elite results requires intense focus. However, this repattern has been even more mentally draining than the rest of my training. I have to be very in tune with my body and really try to work on the specific segments of the pattern. I watch video every day and reassess my plan and progress to figure out how I can improve the next session.

Right now the two big things that are really limiting me are hip internal rotation and t-spine rotation. Hip IR is actually a mobility issue, but the t-spine rotation is more of a patterning issue. I have the passive and active ROM, it’s a matter of using it when I’m throwing. My hips and shoulders are still not separating the way I need them to in order to throw 100mph. I know all of my positions are going to have to be elite, or very close to elite, for me to get to this velocity, and they’re just not extreme enough yet. I’m hammering on mobility and the segmentation drills that work well for me, it’s just going to take some time.

As far as pain goes though I’m getting closer to pain-free everyday, and I’m continuing to increase my throwing intensity. I got some low effort velo readings this week and they were encouraging. Getting back into intense throwing is going to require significant effort in finding max intent again, because it’s been so long since I’ve consistently pushed intent. I’ll continue to ramp up this week and next, and if I’m feeling 100% after that, I’ll get back to pushing intent again.

The weight room has been helping with intent because of the jumping variations and med ball throws. I’ve been tracking everything and those numbers are starting to climb, so it’s going to be very exciting when I can put all of the pieces together and show what I’ve been working on.

My single leg strength numbers have continued to climb as well-my anterior loaded reverse lunge is up to 305lbs for 3×3. While strength is not the focus, I’m not going to turn strength gains away if they’re there for the taking. I’m working on some different single leg movements and loading styles for my next block and I’m excited to test them out in a few weeks.

I’m getting closer everyday and I can’t wait to show off everything I’ve been working on! Thank you for following me on my journey to the show! Check back later in the week for more content.
