It’s been a solid start to the week!
I was able to add more volume to my plyo testing day on Monday because I was feeling pretty good, in terms of being pain free. Normally I only test rockers and walking wind-ups, but this week I tested roll-ins as well. The velo readings were pretty good but not PR’s. What was more encouraging was that my numbers didn’t completely drop off on the third drill. Usually after the first drill my numbers drop off by a decent amount. I still haven’t fully regained all of my velocity yet, but I’m working back up to it.
I also got some video today so I’m going to look that over and see what the difference is and what can be improved. I’m also hoping Ben has some insights for me as well. But, I’m excited to test on Friday because I think I could put up my best numbers in a while based on how I’ve been feeling this week.
In the weight room I’ve been getting after it as well. My power numbers are starting to come along. I’ve been taking velo readings of my med ball throws and they came up slightly this week, so that’s encouraging. I’ll keep pushing on my power drills and hopefully it’ll transfer to the mound.
In terms of lifting I’ve been feeling refreshed lately. I was in Cuba for a long weekend a couple weeks ago and I just turned my brain off from training because I was getting mentally fatigued. When I came back I was so pumped to get back in the weight room and back to throwing again. My lifting numbers have been solid. I’ve gone back to some heavier weights and they’re moving pretty easily. I track my main lifts with my Push band regardless of what percentage I’m working at and try to move it as fast as I can and that intent seems to have helped.
I’ll update at the end of the week with how my testing day went. Thank you for following me on my journey to the show!
