It’s the end of week 26!
This was kind of a weird week because I was in Key West for a family vacation. It was a deload week for me in the weight room so that made it a little bit easier but it still wasn’t an ideal training environment.
I did some modified power style lifting in the weight room and kept the volume pretty low. Since I’ve been dealing with that lateral elbow pain I’ve been changing my plans in the gym to find tweaks that work for me. I think I’ve found a good balance by going away from the lighter pressing variations that led to violent lock outs at the elbow. I’ve changed my pressing variations and used med balls with my heavier lifts for some PAP style power training.
As far as throwing this week I was excited to get back to some plyo testing on Monday. I dragged my wife out to field we found and had her retrieve balls for me and work the radar gun. I PR’d on a couple of drills on Monday which was encouraging. I’m starting to get back to being able to push intent, which I love. I was getting really frustrated having to take it easy.
Then Friday I tested from the mound, but after a week of eating and sleeping like a slob it wasn’t my best day. I got to 90mph but I really had to push for that. I didn’t feel great so that wasn’t as bad as I kind of expected it to be. I expect this week to climb back to 93+ but we’ll have to wait and see.
Thank you for following me on my journey to the show and I’ll be back with more next week!
