It’s the end of week 37!
This was my second week getting back to high intensity throws after deloading for a few weeks due to some medial elbow pain. It’s been fun to throw hard (well try to anyway) again. The velo readings haven’t come back up yet, but I know it’ll be a long road.
My first day back last Monday I tested plyos and PR’d on a few of my throws and in general had a solid day. Then when I tested that Friday my numbers were way down. I know it’s early in terms of getting back to high intensity throws, but it’s frustrating nonetheless.
I’ve been doing step behinds for my testing and I can feel myself holding back and I think part of that is that I haven’t tested step behinds in a while. But I also think it’s because the turf that I test on is slick and that keeps me from planting my landing foot confidently. I may try some molded spikes and see if that helps, assuming I’m allowed to use them at the facility.
My training sessions have been hybrid strength and power. I was doing mostly power the previous few blocks and I felt like my strength had gone down some, so I want to maintain that a bit better, while still working on my power.
Recovery has also become more of a priority for me lately which has been helpful I think. I’ll put out a post next week with more specifics about what I’ve been doing for recovery.
Thank you for following me on my journey to the show and have a great weekend!
