It was another solid week of training, and the first week of a new training block.

I’ve been continuing to work on the big pieces that need to improve in my delivery-hip/shoulder separation being the biggest. Since this is a “big rock” for me it will likely help to improve other smaller pieces along with it. My drill work has been feeling better and I’m getting more and more in tune with my movements as I get closer my most efficient pattern. This wasn’t my best week of testing, but if this counts as a down week I’ll take it. Here are my results:

The previous weeks’ average and peaks are in parentheses.

Roll-Ins

Red: 84, 86 New PR (A 82.3, P 84)

Yellow: 88, 88 (A 86.7, P 89)

Gray: 93, 93 (A 92.2, P 94)

Rockers

Red: 77, 78 (A 77.8, P 79)

Yellow: 79, 81 (A 82.5, P 84)

Gray: 82, 84 (A 86.7, P 88)

As you can see my roll-ins were right where they should be, but my velocity fell off quickly during rockers. I need to work on holding my velocity better, and I think this comes down to my mindset more than anything else. I need to maintain my intensity throughout the process, rather than relaxing some after roll-ins. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work on that this week and improve my numbers.

Like I said at the beginning, this was the first week of a new block. My weight room numbers have been solid and I’m just trying to maintain that and improve my power output. My med ball throws improved during this first week, which was extremely encouraging. I’m still keeping things relatively simple in the weight room, as most of my improvements will be made during sport specific training. That being said, the weight room is still an important piece in improving my power output.

I’m in the weight room three days per week right now, with recovery/mobility sessions on my other days. I have two high intensity/power days, and one higher volume day at the end of the week. I’m trying to manage fatigue the best I can so that my focus can stay on my throwing output.

Anyway, thank you for following me on my journey to the show. Check back later this week for more content.
